From the verdant sparkling waterways of the Okavango Delta to the arid expanse of the great Kalahari, Botswana is a land of great contrast. This precious, peaceful country offers a plethora of luxury accommodation as well as exhilarating mobile camping and tranquil house boat accommodation.
Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is located in the southwestern part of Uganda on the rim of the Rift Valley. The mist-covered mountains are sheltered by an ancient and biologically diverse rainforest that dates back more than 25,000 years, comprising of approximately 400 plant species. This impenetrable forest protects ±320 mountain gorillas – approximately half of the population in the world, among which are a number of habituated groups, that can be tracked by visitors.
The word “Bwindi” means “darkness” foretelling how dense the forest is and the word impenetrable serves to further underline this fact.
In order to maximise the experience in trekking to see gorillas, visitors are required to be physically fit as depending on the gorillas location the climbs, steep terrain and thick and heavy vegetation can be very taxing.
