From the verdant sparkling waterways of the Okavango Delta to the arid expanse of the great Kalahari, Botswana is a land of great contrast. This precious, peaceful country offers a plethora of luxury accommodation as well as exhilarating mobile camping and tranquil house boat accommodation.
Kibale National Park protects an enormous moist evergreen rainforest 766 square kilometres in size. Despite encompassing primarily moist evergreen forest, it also contains a diverse array of landscapes and is home to one of the last remaining expanses of both lowland and montane forests.
The park was gazetted in 1932 and formally established in 1993 to protect a large area of forest previously managed as a logged forest reserve. It is an important ecotourism and safari destination, well-known for its population of habituated chimpanzees and primates, including the red colobus and L’Hoest’s monkey.
If you’re keen on botany, or would just love to see the forest’s flitting and fluttering array of butterfly, you won’t want to miss the park’s many shaded trails.
